8 Signs You are Doing Okay in Life as Mom – Better Than Okay Actually!

Life as a mom is hard emotionally, physically, and everything in between. Despite how much we tell ourselves not to compare ourselves to others, we do it…ALL THE TIME.

It’s a terrible habit we are guilty of, and often if makes us miss the progress in our own lives. The things YOU have actually accomplished, because we don’t want to “Toot our Own Horn”.

Well if you are wondering if you are doing okay in life as a mom (Which I bet you are rocking it!) then here are 8 signs you are doing okay, better than okay actually, in life!

1. You Spend Your Time Wisely

As a mom you are busy, so time is very precious. You spend your time getting household things done, I mean come on the laundry get’s put away eventually doesn’t it 🙂 , and you still fit in time with your kids.

If you were spending your time poorly you wouldn’t be getting in those cuddles and laughs with your kids.

2. You Are Not Alone

If you have friends and family by your side a few times a week you’re doing better than many others. Remember to be grateful for the friends and family you have around you, they are your village and look forward to watching your kids grow into wonderful individuals .

3. You Have an Income

No matter if you are a working mom or a stay-at-home mom, if you have an income to support you and your family you are doing much better than okay. A steady income means security, which is something not everyone has.

Even if you are only making ends meet, you have the opportunity to keep food on the table and a roof over your head. That is a blessing many look forward to having someday.

4. You Look at Every Mistake or Failure as a Learning Opportunity

Kids do not come with a manual, so we are always learning what will work best for parenting them. You will try something and it might go completely pear-shaped, but you take it as a learning opportunity.

  • People often repeat behaviors despite getting a negative result, whether that be overspending on the credit card or forcing your child to do a extracurricular they hate. You have the opportunity to choose differently the next time those situations arise. You have the choice, and using the opportunity to learn is positive.

If you are open to always learning and improving, then you are doing a great job. Things will not always go as planned, but being having the ability to learn from it is a great skill in motherhood.

5. You Choose Optimism

When you choose to be optimistic, there is hope.

When you’re optimistic you’ll model optimism to your family, as opposed to when your expectations are low, you quickly become stuck, because you believe your efforts will be a waste of time. This is not a mindset you want to pass along to your children.

Optimism is a gift and when you have it – a fire in your soul to get more out of life – you are probably doing pretty darn good if you keep up your optimistic outlook.

6. You Have Time To Do Something You Enjoy

Even if that is just having a Netflix and chill moment with your partner at the end of the day, you are fitting in time to recharge.

There are many others in the world who do not have this opportunity right now, so realize you are doing pretty okay even if you only fit in a 20 minute gym session.

7. You Make Someone Smile Everyday

You are kind.
Yep, that right there means you are doing okay. You are a kind person and are able to make someone smile everyday.

A warm smile is the universal language of kindness

– William Arthur Ward

There are a lot of angry people in the world, and they aren’t doing much to help anyone. By bringing laughter and joy to someone in the world each day means you are making the world a better place in your own small way each day. And that makes a difference, don’t underestimate that small gesture.

8. You Have Goals

You still have a mission in life of things you want to achieve. Nothing is worse than seeing someone give up on life and just coast through the last decades of their life with little spark or joy.

It doesn’t matter how long it might take you to reach your goals, the fact you have goals means you are determined and looking forward to working towards them. You are far ahead of those who have thrown in the towel and aren’t even trying.

You are doing better than most by keeping those goals in your mind, and maybe even beginning to make small steps towards them. You are making an effort and that means you are still kicking butt mama!

Consider these positive signs you are doing okay in life.

If you are doing any of the above then you are probably doing much better than you think!
